There about 8-10 parking spots around the building, shared with Straw Market, and also street parking shared with the neighboring residences. Parking is not typically a problem.
I think the buffet starts at 10 am and goes till 3pm.
No. It is not open on Sundays
A rough exterior and the menu can possibly throw you for a loop, but they make up for it with the excellent food and service! The server explained menu items very well and made excellent suggestions! The MoMos with ginger sauce were yummy. The noodles rock, and the Himalayan tea is something everyone should try!
It had been over a year since we’d been to Cafe Shambala and I cannot believe it took us this long to come back. Such a great and expansive menu of vegetarian options with many meat dishes available for those inclined. Perfectly spiced foods and the chai is amazing - really the best in town because they take their time brewing it fresh. It really is the Pinnacle of vegetarian cuisine in Utah.
I loved this place! Delicious food, very friendly and efficient staff, great price for a buffet and they had vegan food options for my friend. Definitely coming back.
Cafe Shambala is the best restaurant in the Valley. In my 100% factually accurate human opinion, anyway.
Cafe Shambala is among the finest vegetarian and Tibetan restaurants in the Valley. The restaurant is always immaculately clean. Food is always delicious, comes in generous portions, and pretty quickly.Staff are immensely friendly, and pillars of the local community. Whenever non-residents visit the city, I recommend this location.
Great service, good food. The person-in-charge was very nice and ensured that we have a pleasant experience. The hot tea (by the pot) was amazing and tasted absolutely authentic. Also attached are pictures of the veg fried momo and chicken chilli. The menu is relatively inexpensive considering the amount served. On 9 out of 10 occasions you'd need a to-go box.
This is by far the best Tibetan food and vegetarian buffet in the northern Salt Lake City area and probably even state. The staff is amazingly friendly and the food is fantastic!
Best food and atmosphere in SLC. Owners make the place have a great friendly vibe.
I Love their homemade soup. Delicious food.
As told by a 2nd grader:"Shambala is a great place. I give it 5 stars! Are you looking for a great place to eat? Go to Shambala!!! It has very good food. There are noodles like those long noodles. There is also rice and things that look like dumplings but they are vegetarian and crunchy on the outside. I think they are really good. They have really good soup, like this hot yummy spicy soup. Caution!! You have to eat it last because it is too hot to at first. The restaurant is nice and calm that is one of the reasons I gave it five stars. Another nice quality is that there is a place by Shambala that you can go to for dessert but Shambala has smoothies it is your choice. I love to go with my mom and dad. SO GRAB YOUR HAT AND HAVE FUN!!!"
You have to get the Lemon Tea!! I adore this place, and its one of my go-to's for something quick in the Ave's.
Been a loyal customer for 2 years now and have always had a 5-star experience! Affordable, high quality dishes, with excellent service, and generous portion sizes during dinner entrees so you can count on taking leftovers home. The lunch buffet is an amazing deal! My favorite items during the buffet are the spicy potatoes (thicker-cut and less soggy than found at other SLC Tibetan restaurants), chicken kabobs, the momos (veggie or beef), and the rice pudding dessert. The mango lassi drink here is more of a thin smoothie than other places' thicker yogurt-based consistency, but I prefer that it's lighter and refreshing here. The iced Chai tea is also very delicious, and may have a nut milk mixed in (it looked like a tea latte when served). A great casual spot to bring friends when visiting town!
Absolutely incredible. Over half the menu is vegetarian and what I tried was so delicious that I can't wait to keep coming back to try the many other options. Cafe Shambala has a warm, local, calming atmosphere that feels like a hidden gem. The entrees offer huge portions for what you pay ($8-10); I only finished half my food and enjoyed the rest the next day. Try the Shambala Vegetarian Plate to sample a few of their best vegetarian options, including spicy potatoes and momos (soft, fried vegetable dumplings).
Amazing food and well priced. We will be coming here again. They have great vegetarian dishes and even some good meat dishes for the meat lovers.
Arrive hungry, always leave stuffed!! Amazing food and super friendly staff!! One of the best lunch buffets in SLC.
The friendliest and kindest service I have ever received, consistently! They have great prices and amazing food. What more could you want? I'm not even big on veggies but I eat here regularly.
Wonderful Tibetan food in a quiet Avenues neighborhood. The currys are good, and the beef fried noodles dish is a favorite. And try the momo appetizers. Season everything to taste. Try the ginger sauce too. It's great!
This place is wonderful, cozy atmosphere and the employees are very warm and welcoming! Tons of vegan options (about half the menu)!! My fiance and I had the veggie momos steamed, the spicy potatoes, and lentil soup. What is in the momos resembles the spicy potatoes so I think next time I'd probably get the veggie curry (which our friends got and is a large portion) and momos. I love the flavors and the prices are very reasonable! Definitely recommend for a fun, but flavorful and affordable dinner!
Fantastic and affordable buffet in the Avenues. Great if you're vegetarian, and still great if you're not! (I'm not vegetarian) Delicious noodles and rice, and the momos are fantastic. I looked everything I tried. It's not a huge buffet, and the food is simple, but it's delicious. Owners are friendly, and service is great. Highly recommend!
Best Tibetan this side of Lhasa
Come for the one-of-a-kind hot sauce. Stay for your 7th bowl of the magical lentil soup.
Affordable and delicious. We each got an entree and had enough leftovers for a second meal. You won’t be disappointed. Get the momos!
Clean place with excellent service! We always get the momos. So delicious! Everything we have tried here is super tasty. Lunch buffet is the best!
I've been going here for 10 years and couldn't be happier. The food, portions, and staff are amazing. I usually get the Potato and Spinach Date, fried Momos, and the sweet and sour tofu - all amazing, especially when combined together 😊
Awesome service! Lots of food, great place with vegetarian options
Very delicious food. Excellent and friendly staff. Very affordable Lunch Buffet. The Momo's are very tasty!
Love the lunch buffet. Momos, spicy potatoes & lentil soup, oh my!
Best food and experience ever.
I love getting catered food from Cafe Shambala for office and house parties. They have got food multiple times and it's inexpensive and awesome tasting. Everyone loves them. Though they do not deliver, so you have to go pick up the food but they can accommodate your packing options (to go styrofoam box or large containers). They offer momos (veggie/beef/both) with sauce, veggie fried rice, spicy veggies, spicy potatoes, chicken/lamb curry and it came to ~$9/person. The food isn't very spicy/hot but they give their own hot sauce which you can add to everything to make it spicy.
This place is amazing. Great vegetarian options. The lunch buffet is a great deal and not to be missed. Lunch buffet closes at 3 so get it while you can.
Good food. I would like to go again to try more things. The food seems to me to be a mix between asian and indian. It was good. The chai tea wasn't that good.
Good food, good for you and a very fair price. Vegetarian s preferred. ✨✨✨✨✨
If I could give it more stars I would. Amazing food, super local, and super inexpensive! Whenever my roommates and I can’t decide on where to eat, we go here. This place is the very best around.
Incredibly delicious food and quaint environment. Mom and pop done right! Food is excellent. Service is great. Sometimes the wait can be long but well worth it. Little shop inside as well. I hear the lunch Buffett is good.
The food is absolutely amazing! The service was great as well. When we went in we saw the staff interact with quite a few regulars as if they were family. This is a place that we will definitely return
Friendly faces and great food, especially if you are vegan / vegetarian. Don't forget the lentil soup. I can have it in a bucket.
Something that delights me is being introduced to a new flavor profile. The fennel chili sauce at Cafe Shambala is just exquisite-- such and interesting combination and with such kick. I'll be dreaming about the vegetable momo and lentil soup for months to come.
Their lunch is buffet style and it is price very good compared to other buffets. Not everything is offer during buffet hours. The full menu is offer for dinner. Lots of veggies are used in almost every plate. The momo is the Tibetan version of the dumpling, and yes they are amazing. The spicy potatoes are a must try. The staff is always so friendly. Prices are super reasonable.
This place has the best buffet ever and the service was amazing 10/10!!! I recommend this place to anyone looking for great food at a great price!!!
Excellent food. Tons of vegetarian options. Spicy potatoes have an insane amount of flavor. Veggies are always cooked to the perfect texture. Staff is friendly and make you feel at home. Hoping this place does well amd stays open for a long time!
I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Quality and quality for great prices. The food was very flavorful. We had their lunch special and everyone was very happy with the options. Our waitress was on her game! The cafe was busy and she still never let our water glasses gone below half!!! Would give 10 stars if I could!!!
I can say 4.5.. there isn't really much I have to complain. They got the quantity, quality, flavor right!
Loved it! The momo’s with the ginger sauce was great. Will be back.
Authentic Tibetan food, friendly staff with decent ambiance. Haven for vegans, will highly recommend to everyone.
Great place to eat for vegan and vegetarians,Tabetan style cooking, very delicious.
First time there. My wife and I shared veggie Momo (mixed steamed & fried) and a spinach mushroom dish. Both were especially tasty. As was the cup of warm, sweet Chai. All for just a little over $20. Extremely friendly staff. Very clean. Will definitely be back.
They have awesome vegan options, and reasonable pricing, considering how much food you get. Don't get me started on the staff! .. so wonderful! Veeeeery friendly, and extremely helpful. This is a new favorite of ours.
Okay! I really really love the food here. The owner of the restaurant and the employees here are great too. I always order beef momo's (steamed dumpling) with other dishes. Their portion size is "BIG". When my family is here in SLC for a visit, we make sure to stop here for dinner. Tea here is very tasty too.
The lunch buffet is yummy and vegetarian. I love the spicy potatoes
